Gawain had been away from court for 9 months, he was riding his handsome jet black horse, Gringolet. "Ahh...it does me heart glad to be passing fairly into the land of my dubbing" he said. Taking in a breath of cool air {the air around Camelot was the best in the isles}, he smiled remembering the joyous times he had been apart of before 9 months ago when he left to seek The Grail. He hadn't found it.......Gawain doesn't let his mind go back to that fruitless quest, no now he's home...almost home....almost in Camelot.

It just so happened that King Arthur appointed Lancelot scout of the northern side of Pine Forest. Lancelot was hoping for a bigger first quest as a knight, but Arthur liked to keep Lancelot around as he had become his favorite knight... ever since Gawain left those 9 months ago, seeking The Grail. Lancelot clad in armor was riding his snowy white horse, Calidon.
There was no sign of anything passing through the dense forest, except the sound of the near by river, and the noise of the hungry birds far off looking for worms to supple their daily lunch. "This forest is as peaceful as a garden, Calidon. I don't think either of us are needed to protect it...no one travels through these parts." Lancelot said to his horse. Lancelot often talks to his horse like it is a fellow knight.

Gawain comes through the dense forest on to the rocky path, there the thoughts of the life he will again be settling into leave his keen warrior mind, as he spots Lancelot mounted on a fine horse, wearing full body armor, with a sword at his side. "Nay, can it not be? Must I do battle before, I gain the comfort of my beloved dwelling?" Gawain is partly jesting with himself, he really loves a good fight. ;D
Gawain pats Gringolet's neck, and says in his ear "Come, let us give this shinning knight, a lesson in putting his back toward the path!"
Gawain, kicks his horse, lowers his lance and charges toward Lancelot.

Lancelot turned just in time to see Gawain's charge, and moves out of his target range, still on horseback he draws his sword and cuts Gawain's lance in half. "I heard no challange from your lips rouge, you speak like the silent fox, yet if you had your wits about you, you would thinkth twice before attacking me!" he said. Lancelot kicks Calidon into attack-run and goes after Gawain, his sword shining in the afternoon sun light.

Gawain was surprised that this knight escaped his famed "death charge", most knights he used it on became his life-long friends, as they had no wish to fall under such wild speed of a lance.
"I knowth now, this be a man worth unto many a skill, yet I shall still best him....." Gawain said to Gringolet {Gawain talks to his horse too ;D It's a "Knight Thing"!} Gawain has to quicken his speed to keep from getting his head cut-off by Lancelot. As he does so he thinks "I should so love to live through this fight, just so I'll know this warrior!"
Swinging his sword around he is able to knock a branch from a pine tree, and it falls close to Lancelot. Gawain now jumps from his horse on to Lancelot's.

Lancelot was shocked by Gawain's leaping, as he was expecting Gawain to be yielding under his blade by now. "Sir knight, may I remind you that you rideth where it is only befitting for a maiden!" he said, hoping by playing with words it would buy him enough time to knock Gawain off the horse.
Lancelot tries to push his back against Gawain, but he can't reach him, his armor won't allow his body to move where he needs it to.

Gawain laughs, he is wearing a light suit of chain mail {"Questing Attaire"} and realizes the poor knight is weighted down by armor.
"I care not where I ride Good Sir, if by so I claim victory! Me thinks you must blame the men of France, for tis they who maketh the armor so havey, that a man cannot moveth his limbs when he want!" Gawain said, putting his left arm around Lancelot's whist, to grap the rains from him.

Lancelot realizes he is fighting someone of great talent, and wits. He wishes there was a way to end the fight, and make friends with this great man. Calidon rears up sending Lancelot straight into Gawain and off the horse. Lancelot rolls to the ground, and quickly finds his sword. "What say you now sir... must our blades fight on? It is well past mid-day, and the noon meal will be over in Camelot... ... tis would be a sour pity for a worn traveler to miss such an affair!" Lancelot said.

Gawain was taken back by the sudden fall, he sat up and heard the words spoken by Lancelot. "You not be a fool...tis was my mistake! You be a man of high quality, let's us do your bidding. To again brake bread at Arthur's table is a thought of belovement unto me. Always is the meat sweet in Camelot, and the wine like unto the crystal springs of The Fairies." Gawain said, he was most pleased that the fight had now ended, although he would now entertain the thought of if he could best this knight......................
"But, tell unto me friend, do you take seating in the dinning of Camelot's feasting?" he asked

"I seeth now you must have been long off questing not to know my crest... I say unto you truly I be Sir Lancelot of The Lake. I sit at The Table Round, and uphold the jest dealings of The High King Arthur. " Replied Lancelot, lowering his sword.

Surprised at the news that a new knight has joined the noble fellowship, Gawain says "Then we be brothers of The Table Round! For as I stand before you....or as it is.. sit before you, my name be Gawain! I shall make you to tell me more of what besets and befell, during these 9 months of my questing, but let us go hence....Worn by my journey, I need to taste bread."
Raising from the ground, Gawain walked over to the horses, and handed Lancelot the rains of Calidon, then he mounted Gringolet.

Lancelot mounts Calidon, and rides next to Gawain. He knows only the most skilled of knights are able to fight Gawain, and live to tell about it. A high honor indeed, he is very pleased to be breaking bread with such a warrior!

I was wondering if perhaps you needed lady Guinevere? I love the movie "First knight" and it would be good fun to be lancelot's main woman in this rpg. Please get back with me at wavez2000@yahoo.com. thanks...
